{"id":1353,"date":"2019-04-04T14:11:39","date_gmt":"2019-04-04T18:11:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/redtinnoodles.com\/?p=1353"},"modified":"2019-04-04T14:25:13","modified_gmt":"2019-04-04T18:25:13","slug":"loose-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/redtinnoodles.com\/?p=1353","title":{"rendered":"Loose Change"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>Some say that I&#8217;m not of these times.<\/p>\n<div>I&#8217;m lost in recollections.<\/div>\n<div>Some hear bells but I hear chimes.<\/div>\n<div>I don&#8217;t ask for directions.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Now some would like to define me<\/div>\n<div>as nothing but a hoarder.<\/div>\n<div>But I see things that they don&#8217;t see.<\/div>\n<div>And everything has order.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>While they see piles and tons of crap,<\/div>\n<div>each thing has special meaning.<\/div>\n<div>An eight foot stack of magazines<\/div>\n<div>they only see as leaning.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Each item has its history.<\/div>\n<div>My memories are not crimes.<\/div>\n<div>Inside each life&#8217;s a mystery.<\/div>\n<div>I got five hundred dollars in quarters and dimes.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>There&#8217;s baseball cards and movie stills<\/div>\n<div>and paperbacks from France,<\/div>\n<div>a shoebox full of teenage frills,<\/div>\n<div>a corsage from the dance.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>I even saved the glove from when<\/div>\n<div>I shook a singer&#8217;s hand.<\/div>\n<div>I don&#8217;t even recall his name,<\/div>\n<div>but, man, he had some band.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>I even have the knife and fork<\/div>\n<div>saved from my dad&#8217;s last supper.<\/div>\n<div>And here&#8217;s the poison bottle&#8217;s cork.<\/div>\n<div>Not everything&#8217;s an upper.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>See, everything is organized<\/div>\n<div>by places, deeds and times.<\/div>\n<div>In tins and jars I realized<\/div>\n<div>I got five hundred dollars in quarters and dimes.<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Here&#8217;s a sack of balls I caught<\/div>\n<div>while sitting in the stands.<\/div>\n<div>And check out all these postcards bought<\/div>\n<div>and sent from foreign lands.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Got photographs of family members<\/div>\n<div>going\u00a0 back a century.<\/div>\n<div>Yes, there&#8217;s some no one remembers.<\/div>\n<div>But to toss is blasphemy.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Boxes labeled, cartons tabled,<\/div>\n<div>bags and bags in many places.<\/div>\n<div>Yes my movements are disabled,<\/div>\n<div>but in all things I see faces.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Uncles used these decks of cards,<\/div>\n<div>grandmas wore these jewelry shards,<\/div>\n<div>Every word in this collection rhymes.<\/div>\n<div>I got five hundred dollars in quarters and dimes.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some say that I&#8217;m not of these times.
