There would be a choice on whom to save:<\/div>\n
those who walk upright outside the cave,<\/div>\n
or those who worship fire from within.<\/div>\n
Take a look to see who is your kin.<\/div>\n
From afar explosions look like smoke.<\/div>\n
But, up close, appear more as God’s joke.<\/div>\n
Blood and blast meld into paint:<\/div>\n
those who were and now who ain’t.<\/div>\n
Rivers run and lands are farmed.<\/div>\n
Some not dead are only harmed.<\/div>\n
Genes and schemes are passed on down.<\/div>\n
Here’s a village. There’s a town.<\/div>\n
Families, alas, survive.<\/div>\n
May be yours, if you’re alive.<\/div>\n
These eternal mysteries<\/div>\n
come to us as histories.<\/div>\n
Those who had successful plans<\/div>\n
band together, then, as clans.<\/div>\n
Bloodlines are a map of time,<\/div>\n
shaped by reason, steeped in rhyme.<\/div>\n
Sometimes fate can be quite cruel.<\/div>\n
That is why it’s called old school.<\/div>\n
Paintings, tales and songs survive.<\/div>\n
Nothing else can stay alive.<\/div>\n
Those who seek to trace the past<\/div>\n
are but watchmen on the mast.<\/div>\n
Waves of people hit the shore.<\/div>\n
Some are players, some keep score.<\/div>\n
All wind up as dust or bones.<\/div>\n
