T’was way back in the days of Howdy Doody<\/p>\n

I heard a jumpin’ song called “Tutti Frutti.”<\/div>\n
The radio was suddenly alive<\/div>\n
with more than just the standard pap and jive.<\/div>\n
I gave up Gene and Roy<\/div>\n
to hear that Elvis boy.<\/div>\n
There came a time in life I call ‘take five.’<\/div>\n
On Sun, I heard the Killer.<\/div>\n
So, goodbye to Glenn Miller.<\/div>\n
Farewell to Lassie and good Rin Tin Tin.<\/div>\n
That rock n’ roll got underneath my skin.<\/div>\n
Bolstered by the tunes these new guys sang,<\/div>\n
I outgrew the Mickey Mouse Club gang.<\/div>\n
When I gave up Lucy for “Lucille”<\/div>\n
I became a teenager for real.<\/div>\n
Soon I’d be down on my knees,<\/div>\n
praying to the Everlys.<\/div>\n
Thereupon came Cash and Berry,<\/div>\n
folk with Peter, Paul and Mary.<\/div>\n
Then a new world opened that was thrillin.’<\/div>\n
It was called the sixties with Bob Dylan.<\/div>\n
Teenage years becoming skittish,<\/div>\n
suddenly there came the British.<\/div>\n
Beatle world became its own sensation.<\/div>\n
I was deeply caught up in that nation.<\/div>\n
Blues and bluegrass came around.<\/div>\n
Everywhere was found new sound.<\/div>\n
I realized my childhood was a relic<\/div>\n
when I entered into psychedelic.<\/div>\n
Yet somewhere way back there in my brain<\/div>\n
lingered Howdy Doody’s old refrain.<\/div>\n
Seems it doesn’t matter just how old you finally grow,<\/div>\n
