\nHiroshima, Nagasaki. Our worst selves were proud.
\nYes, it helped to end world war where eighty million died.
\nBut it’s not a moment that we look upon with pride.
\n“Little Boy” and “Fat Man” were the last A-bombs deployed.
\nThey ushered in the age of fear which we have since enjoyed.
\nThrough the cold war Russia sought to match our deadly missiles,
\ncausing paranoia with loud sirens, bells and whistles.
\nMany years they stoked our fears as nukes proliferated.
\nAs protection, MAD was vastly overrated.
\nNowadays, nine countries possess the atomic bomb.
\nThe more the scarier and subtle threats upset the calm.
\nThe worldwide stockpile can be best described as just insane.
\nAnd our great leader\u00a0once suggested nuke a hurricane.
\nOdds are even we won’t have another big event.
