Trees are really not your friends,

\nThey’ve seen you climb up their limbs,
\nabuse them like jungle gyms.
\nThey’ve seen severed branches used
\nfor club houses. Not amused !
\nThey’ve suffered ropes for hammocks, swings,

\nThey’ve been turned into toothpicks
\nand paperized, it seems, for kicks.
\nIt’s no wonder they shed leaves.
\nThat’s the way a sad one grieves.
\nThey’ve been known in a good breeze
\nto fall upon their enemies.
\nRemember, trees are living things
\nand you are not their queens and kings.
