This new year’s eve, there’s no reprieve
\nfrom ghosts of old years past.
\nThe orange pall which cloaked\u00a0us all
\nnow seems that it will last.
\nIt needs another twenty days
\nto dissipate its\u00a0frisson,
\nand then another several months
\nto put that pall in prison.
\nThere’ll be no horns or party hats
\nuntil inauguration.
\nBut, once you hear that bible slam,
\nbegin the celebration.
\nSo what if our new year starts off
\nwith twenty days in hock.
\nWe need time to recuperate
\nfrom four years spent in shock.
\nSo, give the first two weeks
\nof twenty-one to forty-five.
\nAnd celebrate the fact
\nthat we survived his reign alive.
\nShould he return in twenty-four,
\nhe’ll be laughed off the stage.
\nHis tired act begs no encore.
\nIt’s simply old-age rage.
\nBesides, if he has any thoughts
\nof returning a savior,
\nhe’ll have to somehow work in
