We used to believe\u00a0in The Clash.<\/p>\n

But now we accumulate trash.<\/div>\n
It seems life turned into a bummer<\/div>\n
when we lost our punk god, Joe Strummer.<\/div>\n
Their first album changed the seventies musical diet.<\/div>\n
“London’s Burning,” Police and Thieves,” and, of course, “White Riot.”<\/div>\n
Their next release furthered our hope.<\/div>\n
They said, “Give ‘Em Enough Rope.”<\/div>\n
“London Calling” told a story:<\/div>\n
“Hateful,” “Clampdown,” “Death or Glory.”<\/div>\n
“Sandinista,” 1980, was a true masterpiece, matey.<\/div>\n
Three discs, reggae, jazz and dub. We felt we had joined a club.<\/div>\n
“Combat Rock” was made to sell.<\/div>\n
After that, ’twas “Straight To Hell.”<\/div>\n
Joe got fixed up with new choppers.<\/div>\n
Then they lost their drummer, Topper.<\/div>\n
Nothing after seemed quite right.<\/div>\n
Mick’s Big Audio Dynamite<\/div>\n
played\u00a0beneath a disco ball.<\/div>\n
Punk was headed for a fall.<\/div>\n
Joe’s last group, The Mescaleros,<\/div>\n
survived all the post-Clash harrows.<\/div>\n
Made three albums with this crew.<\/div>\n
And then he passed, 2002.<\/div>\n
For four years, Clash gave us hope.<\/div>\n
Guess we needed too much rope.<\/div>\n
