Another long sword’s been unsheathed<\/div>\n
against the darts of reason.<\/div>\n
Again, we’ve wept. Once more we’ve grieved.<\/div>\n
It comes round every season.<\/div>\n
When power rules with sharpened tools,<\/div>\n
there’ll always be some clashing.<\/div>\n
The constant grate ‘tween kings and fools<\/div>\n
will set the teeth to gnashing.<\/div>\n
“Rise up with the tides,” we’ll chant,<\/div>\n
as our followers battle our leaders.<\/div>\n
And, when history’s made, either truth or charade,<\/div>\n
the past’s granted a future through readers.<\/div>\n
But, as long as one knows,<\/div>\n
like the blush on a rose,<\/div>\n
much of what we suppose leans on light.<\/div>\n
There’ll be dream mixed with fact.<\/div>\n
There’ll be lies left intact.<\/div>\n
