A young schoolboy named Billy Joe grew restless on the bus
\nThe boy was filled with questions about what was all the fuss.
\nHe’d picked his clothes and shined his shoes. He thought he looked quite cool.<\/div>\n
And his mother cried as he walked out:<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Don’t wear your mask to school, son.
\nLeave your mask at home, Bill.
\nDon’t take your mask to school.”<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He laughed and kissed his mom and said, “Your Billy Joe’s a man”
\nI can avoid this Covid best as anybody can.
\nAnd I won’t mask without a cause;\u00a0 I’d look a total fool.
\nShe cried again as he rode off:<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Don’t wear your mask to school, son.
\nLeave your mask at home, Bill.
\nDon’t take your mask to school.”<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He hummed a song as on he rode, his face mask left at home.
\nHe saw his schoolmates in the yard, wherein they liked to roam.
\nHe saw some wearing masks and wondered if that was the rule.
\nBut his mother’s words echoed again:<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Don’t wear your mask to school, son.
\nLeave your mask at home, Bill.
\nDon’t take your mask to school.”<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He razzed some of his schoolmates about covering their face.<\/div>\n
And said they needn’t worry about virus in this place.<\/div>\n
A bemasked schoolboy at his side began to laugh, quite cruel.<\/div>\n
Again heard again his mothers words:<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Don’t wear your mask to school, son.
\nLeave your mask at home, Bill.
\nDon’t take your mask to school.”<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Filled with spite then, Billy Joe breached Covid protocol.
\nBut then he started coughing wildly right there in the hall.
\nAs Billy Joe fell to the floor, the crowd all screamed “You fool!”
\nAnd wondered at his final words:<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Don’t wear your mask to school, son.
\nLeave your mask at home, Bill.
