They arrived en masse, the January sicks\u00a0,<\/div>\n
summoned, all, to the White House ellipse.<\/div>\n
They listened to their master for an hour,<\/div>\n
explain that he’d been cheated out of power.<\/div>\n
His one intention simply was to coax<\/div>\n
his fans: he’d\u00a0been the victim of a ‘hoax.’<\/div>\n
He told them to march Pennsylvania Ave.<\/div>\n
and show the patriotic guts they have.<\/div>\n
He said if he was removed from D.C.,<\/div>\n
it meant the death of our democracy.<\/div>\n
He claimed he’d need at least another term<\/div>\n
to make this country’s reputation firm.<\/div>\n
And, as if it made any lick of sense,<\/div>\n
he blamed his troubles all on V.P. Pence.<\/div>\n
“Just hang the man if he won’t change the vote.<\/div>\n
It’s obvious he’s become a turncoat.<\/div>\n
I may not be beside you,<\/div>\n
but let my spirit guide you.<\/div>\n
It’s time, Republicans, to rock the boat.”<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
And then he went and watched it on t.v.,<\/div>\n
while drinking Coke and eating K.F.C.<\/div>\n
It was the perfect diet to watch a growing riot.<\/div>\n
He gloated. “They are doing this for me!”<\/div>\n
His kids and colleagues plead for him to stop.<\/div>\n
There were a couple dead, even a cop.<\/div>\n
But he just let it go, his favorite heroes show,<\/div>\n
thinking he’d\u00a0get his place back at the top.<\/div>\n
He watched it for two hours, we are told,<\/div>\n
until the insurrection was controlled.<\/div>\n
Then, finally, pretending now to care,<\/div>\n
he agreed to a minute on the air,<\/div>\n
and thanked his charges for being so bold.<\/div>\n
“We love you. Go in peace.<\/div>\n
Looks like they broke my lease.<\/div>\n
But I’ll be back for more.<\/div>\n
See you in twenty-four.”<\/div>\n
Next time, it will be better engineered,<\/div>\n
the fixed outcome which many people feared.<\/div>\n
This may have been the last election season<\/div>\n
