I gave a boy a pirate toy;
\nhe cut me with a sword.
\nI taught a little girl to whirl,
\nuntil she got too bored.
\nAn old man walks on darker streets.
\nIncreasingly, they narrow.
\nHe wraps his bones in memory’s sheets
\nand listens to the marrow.
\nThe children play, and hide all day,
\nbehind the gravestones bending.
\nI wave goodbye. I’m off to die.
\nThere is no happy ending.<\/p>\n
