\nAn old cat is like a small storm,
\ncreaking, scratching,
\nleaving detritus in its wake,
\nits svelte prowl
\nhas become a stumbling lurch.
\nIt twitches in sleep,
\ndreaming of the climb.
\nIts purr is now mixed
\nwith yawns and groans.
\nIts plaintive cries
\nfall on its own deaf ears..
\nIts eyes, once magical,
\nnow hold a mist.
\nAnd the worst part of an old cat
\nis knowing how you’ll miss it
