Another departed holiday
\nis all over the cellar floor:
\nthe miniature tree, plastic
\nholly strands and boxed effigies.
\nStockings once hung with care
\nand the odd ornamental ball,
\nall dead to the mind
\nuntil next December,
\nnow go through their long season
\nof mildew and moth,
\na synthetic nature
\ncaught amongst a dark forest
\nof old tools and toys,
