Suddenly, everyone was wearing red hats.
\nThose that didn’t were vilified, even pushed around.
\nBeneath their crimson brims they screamed of country.
\nPeople without proper hats were scared to go outside.
\nThey had to sneak around at night, keep out of sight,
\nrisking harm in their own neighborhoods.
\nSome preferred blue hats, but would never say so.
\nEventually, it was easier just to get one, to blend with
\nthose marching about the streets and restricted zones.
\nOf course one didn’t have to really like them.
